Form And Space


1- Form and Space: The unity of Opposites:                          

They are the different relationships between the forms and the space. In this case, the triangle and the square interact perfectly to form a beautiful home.

2- Defining Spaces With Horizontal Elements:

Refers to the way the horizontal elements define the types of space. In this example, the elevated plane highlights the separation of the subject from the ground up.

3- Defining Space with vertical linear elements:

The vertical elements establish the visual limits of a spatial field. In this case, the glass doors are defining the space through their vertical predominant lines.

4- Qualities of Architectural Space: Light

Refers to the illumination of the forms and their surfaces.  In this example below, the natural light is coming through the skylights located on the roof. Depending on the sun's intensity, the visual impact of the space will vary.

5- Openings in Space defining Elements:

They permit the visual continuity and will have a great impact on the quality of the space. In the example below  the openings extend form the floor to the ceiling and define the entrance area.
